Juvenile Assessment Center

Welcome to the Jefferson County Juvenile Assessment Center (Jeffco JAC)!

The Jeffco JAC is a vibrant program offering a variety of services thanks to the teamwork of our dedicated staff and partners like the Colorado Youth Detention Continuum (CYDC), Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH), Department of Human Services (DHS), the First Judicial District’s Attorney’s Office, local law enforcement, and the R-1 Jefferson County School District.

What We Do

We provide free assessments for families in Jefferson County. These assessments help us understand each family’s unique situation. Our goal is to find the root of any issues and connect families with the right services. Some of the problems we address include:

  • Welfare placement

  • Runaways

  • Behavioral issues beyond parental control

  • Drug and alcohol use

  • Reports of abuse

  • Family conflicts

  • Minor legal troubles

Even though we work closely with law enforcement, using our services won’t create a criminal record or be part of any ongoing investigation.

Through assessments, we coordinate and are a bridge to services and a safer community.

Our Goals

At the JeffCoJAC, our mission is to create a safer community by:

  • Helping youth and families in crisis

  • Freeing up law enforcement to serve the community better

  • Partnering with local agencies for coordinated support

  • Providing resources and information about the juvenile justice system

  • Offering referrals to effective and affordable services

  • Sharing trends and information with community leaders and policymakers
